Shubh Saran is a New York-based Indian guitarist and composer who has performed extensively as a solo artist and with globally renowned musicians in the United States, India and several other countries around the world.
Shubh’s musical career has been shaped by his passion for contemporary American music and Indian music. In his compositions and performances, Shubh has crafted a unique style that blends the sounds of classical and contemporary Indian music with blues, jazz, funk and soul.
In 2014, Shubh completed a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance (B.Mus.) from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. He is a recipient of the Berklee Achievement Scholarship, which is awarded on the basis of outstanding musical ability. During his studies at Berklee, Shubh had the privilege of honing his guitar playing skills under the mentorship of distinguished guitarists Tim Miller, Tomo Fujita and Dave Fiuczynski. He has also performed alongside some of the most famous artists in the American and Indian music industries, including OMI, American Idol’s Michael Lynche, A.R Rahman, Clinton Cerejo, Prasanna, and Mohini Dey.
Shubh’s debut EP entitled A Room with a View is a collection of pieces written over the span of a year. Incorporating elements from jazz, soul and Indian music, each piece showcases the kaleidoscopic range of motifs and textures that defines Shubh’s compositional style. Featuring highly skilled and accomplished musicians from six countries, this five song EP is the perfect blend of diverse musical ideas, talent and technique – a crucible of genres that creates something unexpected and invigoratingly new.
